The Lebanese Artists Association was first founded in 1957 under the name of: AHL AL RASM WAL NAHT. In 1958, the aim was to gather artists in an advocacy group in order to sponsor fine arts through specific institutions such as:
- Galleries
- Academy of fine arts
- An office in the Ministry of Education for the promotion of fine arts
- Participation in the world exhibitions and biennials, and the preparation of a Lebanese biennial.
The first achievement was the establishment of an Office in the Ministry of Education which was concerned to follow up all issues concerning the Spring exhibition within the contribution of the Association. In addition, the Association organized many other exhibitions outside Lebanon to encourage Lebanese artists, it also provided the brilliant artists with scholarships and Awards. The association is also an observer to following the desire of D. Sursock who offered his palace to the city of Beirut as a Museum for the Lebanese Traditional and Modern arts.
It is only in 19 that the Institute of Fine arts in the Lebanese University was founded, after the demands of the association members.
The Lebanese Painters & Sculptors Association (LPASA) welcomes young graduates from all Lebanese Institutions to apply for membership.
